In 1979 Stephen moved into industrial and commercial training, firstly with St George Building Society's Corporate Office (now St George Bank) and in 1981 with Dalgety Australia Ltd (now West Farmers).  At Dalgety's he worked in management development, undertaking a number of assignments in various divisions of the Company, in the area of senior management training and organisational development - before joining the companies insurance division.
