Richard Keddell graduated MB ChB from the University of Otago in 1982. He gained his FRACS in Orthopaedics in 1989 and then undertook fellowships in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty in Norwich, England and Knee Sports surgery in Melbourne, Australia.
He then returned to New Zealand in 1992 to begin orthopaedic practice in Tauranga.
He was Clinical Director of Orthopaedics for the Bay of Plenty District Health Board from 2005 to 2015 and President of the New Zealand Knee Society in 2007 and 2008.
He is currently in private practice at the Grace Orthopaedic Centre in Tauranga and public practice at Tauranga Hospital and is a member of the Tauranga Orthopaedic Research Society. His interests are in Hip and Knee primary and revision Arthroplasty.
