Mr Nanu gained his basic medical degree from the Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi
and on completing an MS in Orthopaedics from MAMC, left for England for further training. His orthopaedic training as a senior house officer (SHO), registrar and senior registrar was based in the North East of England and Liverpool. He was awarded the Examiners Prize and the Khazenifar medal from the University of Liverpool in 1989.
He has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon since 1994 at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
His main interests are trauma and lower limb joint replacement and revision. He teaches on national arthroplasty courses and has been Chairman of the premier trauma course in the UK. Mr Nanu has been International Chairman for trauma in the Middle East and Far East and has chaired and run the first advanced trauma courses in the Far East and regularly contributes as faculty to these courses. He is also a regular member on national
and international courses, He has also contributed to and led the pelvic and acetabular surgery team at Sunderland Royal Hospital for the last 16 years.
